Baseball Rallies to Defeat Lambton on the Road

SARNIA – Humber baseball (4-2, 3rd OCAA) took the field Sunday afternoon for the first-ever meeting with the Lambton Lions (0-4, 7th OCAA). After digging themselves an early hole, the Hawks rallied to escape with the victory, 9-6.

The Humber offence opened the scoring in the first inning when Sam Lebel scored off an RBI single from Ty Martin. The Lions responded in the home-half of the inning when Brady Hogg hit a two-run home run.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Hawks would reclaim the lead for good when all-star Liam Sutherland scored on a passed ball. Second-year infielder Aidan Murphy started the top of the sixth off with a bang, blasting a long solo home run to left field. Humber would rally off of that to put up three more runs through the sixth and the seventh innings.

Stephen Narhabeki got the nod on the mound for Humber and threw six full innings, earning the win for the Hawks. Riley Pollard earned his second save of the year, striking out the side to end the game.

Game Notes:

  • Aidan Murphy hits his first home run of the year – the second of his career.
  • Stephen Narhabeki gets his first win since September 19, 2018, against Seneca.
  • Humber concludes its Southwest Ontario trip with a 2-1 record.
  • Pollard's two saves are a Humber baseball single-season record.
