Mohamoud Breaks Another Record as No. 8 Men's Basketball Wins at St. Clair

WINDSOR — The No. 8 Humber men's basketball team picked up the split on the weekend double-header, defeating the St. Clair Saints (13-5, 3rd West), 100-78, Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Otoo was a standout for Humber in the victory, as he chipped in all over the floor finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and five steals while shooting an impressive seven-of-12 (58.3 percent) from the field.

It was a slow-paced opening quarter as the two sides combined to score just 35 points in the first. The Humber starters managed just four points in the quarter, but fortunately, Kevin Otoo and Dwayne Lambert-Cadore combined to score 12 of the Hawks' 16 points off of the bench.

It was a terrific first half for Lambert-Cadore as he chipped in eight more points in the second on way to 13 points by the break. The Hawks picked up the pace in the second as they finished with 26 in the quarter on 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) shooting from the field as they took a four-point lead into the half.

Humber got hot from behind the arc to begin the second half, thanks in part to the work of Fowzi Mohamoud. With 3:31 remaining in the third, Mohamoud hit his second triple of the game to set the new program single-season record for three-pointers. The Rexdale native went a perfect three-for-three from deep on way to a team-high nine points in the third. After another strong effort on both ends of the floor Humber managed to push the lead to 13 points entering the final quarter.

The fourth would again be all Humber as the Hawks shot a game-high 13-of-20 (65.0 percent) in the quarter, finishing with 29 points. Jaylan Morgan led the way down the stretch, scoring 11 of his 19 points in the fourth alone. The Hawks wound up outscoring the Saints by nine in the final quarter, as they took this one easily by a score of, 100-78.

It was the Hawks bench that was the story on the afternoon, as they finished with 51 points in the game, outscoring the Saints' bench by 19 points in the win.
