Humber rugby stiff arms a player

Defence leads Rugby to home victory over Georgian

ETOBICOKE – Humber rugby (2-0, 1st OCAA) picked up a huge win Saturday afternoon at Valleyfield, handing the rival Georgian Grizzlies (1-1-1, 2nd OCAA) their first loss of the season, 5-0.

After dropping all three matchups to the Grizzlies during the 2019 season, Humber came into this game looking to make a statement to the OCAA.

The first half saw the Hawks control much of the possession, hemming Georgian deep in their own zone. Humber was denied twice near the Grizzlies try-line before finally breaking through for the score by Prince Ndukwe. The ensuing convert by the Hawks would be just wide as they scored the only points in the half going into the break leading 5-0.

Humber spent much of the second half in their own zone as Georgian pressed to get on the board. The Hawks played exceptionally well near their own try-line, stuffing the Grizzlies on three separate occasions in the second half. A late Humber push would put the ball into Georgian's territory as the game reached its final moments. A final lineout by Zack Shurtleff would put an end to the match as the Hawks would take this one by a final score of, 5-0.

  • Prince Ndukwe picked up his first career try as a member of the Hawks.
