GRIZZLIES FALL IN FIVE SET BRONZE MEDAL GAME
Matt Kerr and the Grizzlies battled right to the end losing on just a couple of points 3-2 in a five set thriller.
The Georgian Grizzlies bid at their first ever OCAA men's volleyball came up just short as they fell in a five set thriller in the bronze medal game of the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball hosted at Georgian College in Barrie.
The Grizzlies and their opponents, the Redeemer Royals battled it out in a back and forth match that came down right to the very end.
After splitting the first two sets, it was the Royals who were able to seal the victory in the final few points as they defeated Georgian 3-2 (25-16, 16-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-10).
Ryan DeBruyn (Ottawa) was named player of the game for Georgian after scoring a team-high 16 kills.
Teammate Liam Gray (Barrie) was strong again in the game posting 43 assists, three aces and two blocks. He was named a tournament all-star at the conclusion of the championship.
Georgian has now had back-to-back heartbreaking losses in the bronze medal game at the OCAA Championship.
The Fanshawe Falcons went on to the win the gold medal in the final game against the Humber Hawks.
