DC clinch third place in OCAA east

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - The Durham College women's basketball team secured second place in the OCAA east division following an 81-70 victory over the UTM Eagles in Mississauga on Sunday afternoon.

The Lords finish the regular season with a 13-3 record, placing them in a tie with the George Brown Huskies. However, GBC the tie breaker over Durham so DC will enter the OCAA crossover playoff round as the third seed in the OCAA east division.

Durham's Sunday afternoon victory sweeps the season series with UTM, a new opponent for the green and gold as the Eagles made the leap from the west to the east this season. On the afternoon, the Lords led from start to finish, concluding the contest with a field goal percentage over 50, while also out-rebounding and scoring more second chance paints than the Eagles.

DC will match up with the OCAA west sixth-seed Conestoga Condors next weekend in the crossover round. Due to a scheduling conflict at the CRWC the playoff match will be held at Centennial College's Athletic and Wellness Centre in Scarborough on Saturday, Feb. 29. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the action set to be streamed on OCAA LIVE. 
  • Both Kendra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.) and Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) broke the 20-point plateau in the victory, with Kendra recording a game-high 23 and Glendinning adding 21.
• Sierra Oliver (Ajax, Ont.) poured in a season-high 17 points and Andrea Zulich (Sudbury, Ont.) rounded out the double-digit performances with 13.
• Offensive star Jade Addai led the way for UTM with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting.
  • Kendra finished the season with another double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds, making that 12 double-doubles in her rookie season.
• Zulich was also strong on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds, while also adding four assists, one steal, and one block to round out her stat line.
