OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 5 nationally ranked Durham College men's volleyball team earned their third straight sets victory in defeating the Canadore Panthers 3-0 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 28-26, 25-19, 25-21.
Durham concludes the first semester in first place in the OCAA east division with an unblemished 9-0 record. The start to their 2019-20 season comes in stark contrast to just a year ago where the team finished 2-16. New head coach
Mike Hubicki has made an immediate impact in his first official season leading the Lords, combining a roster filled with both veteran saavy and young talent, which was put on full display in the Sunday afternoon contest seeing four players reach double-digit points led by a first-year standout in
Rouzbeh Rahnavard (Richmond Hill, Ont.).
The Lords will return to action in the new year, traveling to face the Seneca Sting on Friday, Jan. 10. DC knocked off the Sting in straight sets earlier in the season. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. with the match being streamed on

• Turning into a jack-of-all-trades for the Lords, Rahnavard tallied a game-high 15 points in the victory from 13 kills and two blocks.
• Rounding out the Lords strong offensive performances were
Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.),
Tyler Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.), and
Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) who recorded 12, 12, and 10 points. Dube registered 12 kills, while Krabi notched 10 kills and two blocks, and Pichl scored five kills, four blocks, and one ace.
• Leading the charge for the Panthers was Drake Stevenson who also recorded a game-high 15 points with 14 kills and one service ace.
• Fifth-year setter
Liam Gray (Barrie, Ont.) registered 40 or more assists for the second time this season, adding two kills, two aces, and three blocks, while adding seven digs defensively.
• In addition to leading the team in scoring Rahnavard also registered a game-high 14 digs to lead the Lords on the defensive end as well.
• Setter Cameron Daniels registered 23 total assists, while Jean Francois finished with a team-high 5 digs for Canadore.
