OSHAWA, Ont. - Serving as host for the 2019 OCAA baseball championship, the Durham College baseball team clinched a spot in the medal rounds after picking up a win on Day 1 of competition at Kinsmen Stadium on Friday.
The Lords opened tournament play with a satisfying 6-2 win over the St. Clair Saints, before being bounced 10-0 by the top-seeded Humber Hawks later in the day.
Despite the loss, DC qualified for Day 2 of the provincial championship with their tournament opening victory and will once again matchup with the Saints on Saturday morning. The winner of the Saturday morning contest will move on to play the Hawks in the gold medal game, while the loser will walk away with the OCAA bronze medal. Should the Lords move on to the gold medal game they will need to defeat Humber twice in one day in the double-elimination style tournament.
