KITCHENER, Ont. - Avenging a loss from earlier this season, the Durham College women's softball team swept a Sunday afternoon doubleheader against the Conestoga Condors in Kitchener.
The Lords produced 19 runs in the Sunday afternoon sweep, defeating the Condors in a tight Game 1, 7-4, before convincingly winning Game 2 by a score of 12-2.
In what is developing into a race at the top of the OCAA standings, DC now sit in third with an 11-5 record, ranking behind the 12-2 Humber Hawks and 14-6 St. Clair Saints, while sitting just ahead of the 10-8 Fanshawe Falcons. Only the top four teams will qualify for the OCAA championship hosted by the Fanshawe Falcons from Oct. 18-19.
Durham will have a good chance to gain more ground on the Humber Hawks as they host the Toronto opponent this Wednesday, Oct. 2. Durham College is expecting a decent sized crowd for the rivalry night, hosting a Lords Gear pop-up shop and barbecue, along with the presence of #DC4DC athletes from the numerous Lords teams in support of DC softball.
