OSHAWA, ON - The Durham College women's soccer team hosted the St. Lawrence Surge at Vaso's Field on Friday evening, battling to a 0-0 draw in the regular season finale.
The first half was all Lords as they pushed the pace controlling the ball for most of the frame. The offense was highlighted by
Laura Smith (Queensville, ON) who used her speed to make multiple great runs with the ball, almost scoring on a through ball in the 41st minute. Durham had issues with the Surge's defensive line though, going offside eight times in the first half, halting all chances at the scoring opportunities they created.
After a scoreless first half, Durham was put slightly more on the back foot for the second period forcing goalkeeper
Nikki Bradshaw (Newtonville, ON) to make multiple game-saving stops. Bradhsaw's sensational effort saw her stopping all eight shots on goal from the Surge to keep the clean sheet.
The Lords nearly broke the deadlock in extra time when
Jessica Ferreira (Ajax, ON) had a great opportunity to win the game, but the effort barely missed wide.
With the draw, the Lords finished their season at 3-2-1. Finishing tied for second with the Centennial Colts in the East division, the Lord's next game will be a playoff game with the opponent, date and time still to be determined.
Overall Record: 3-3-2 (W-L-D)
