Knights start 2020 off 2-0 with 3-2 win over Mohawk

January 17th, 2020… WELLAND – Coming off a 3-1 win last Saturday in Windsor, the Niagara College Knights men's volleyball team secured their second consecutive win of 2020 in exciting fashion with a 3-2 (17-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, and 15-12) win over the visiting Mohawk Mountaineers (6-4) last night.

Niagara is also 2-0 against Mohawk, with their last game ending in similar fashion with a 3-2 win. The Mountaineers went on a six game hot streak undefeated before being halted by the Knights once again.

The Knights were led by Samuel Otten with a whopping 25 kills for a .431 kill percentage, and totalled 28 points on the night. Otten currently sits third among point leaders in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) with 5.1 points per set in seven games.

Third-year Elijah Bugiadini followed up with 19 kills and 23 points.

Niagara currently sits fourth in the OCAA West division with 8-3 record with a tough couple of games ahead.  The Knights will visit third place Conestoga (8-3) on Wednesday, before returning home to face the undefeated first place Humber Hawks (11-0).
