Women's volleyball drop pair to St. Clair, Fanshawe

LONDON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (5-2, 2-2 OCAA) battled, but dropped a pair of matches in southwestern Ontario, falling to St. Clair (3-1) and Fanshawe (3-1).

After dropping the opening set to St. Clair, 25-19, the Bruins levelled the match with a 25-21 second set win.

St. Clair would rebound from there, however, and closed out with 25-16 and 25-20 wins.

Taylor Ley had a match-high 16 points (nine kills, two aces, and five blocks) while hitting at a .292 clip.

Tamia Cooper-Evelyn and Stacey Gregorini each posted double digit dig totals with 17 and 16 apiece, while Joelle Parnham filled the stat sheet with 23 assists, nine digs and seven points.

The Double-Blue won the opener against Fanshawe, 25-23, but were unable to maintain the momentum against the 12th ranked team in the country.

Sheridan made 10 attack errors in the second set - while Fanshawe committed only three, hitting at .222 - and dropped it 25-16.

The third and fourth sets were closer, but the Bruins couldn't overcome a Fanshawe squad that 31 kills in that span, falling 25-20 and 25-18.

Ley once again paced the attack with 14 points (11 kills, two aces, one block), while Katelyn Long was also in double figures with 12 points (nine kills, three blocks), and Parnham posted a double-double with 23 assists and 11 digs.

The Bruins returned to their home floor with division-leading Humber on Nov. 18 (1pm).
