No. 6 Lords impress in victory over Thunder

OSHAWA, Ont. - Competing in the OCAA LIVE Game of the Week, the No. 6 nationally ranked Durham College women's volleyball team put on a showcase in defeating the Algonquin Thunder in straight sets at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Sunday showdown featured the top two teams in the OCAA east division as the first place and undefeated Lords challenged the second place Thunder. Algonquin is one of only three teams to take a set off the Lords women's volleyball team so far this season, falling 3-1 to Durham in the OCAA regular season opener back in October 2019. However, the Lords would not drop another set to the Thunder, dominating the Sunday showcase event.

Durham will conclude a three-game home stand on Thursday, Jan. 30 when they challenge the visiting Fleming Knights at the CRWC. The game will also be the Lords Bell Let's Talk game, showcasing Bell Let's Talk bubbles and banner signed by Durham College athletes and students. Bell Let's Talk Day is scheduled for Wednesday Jan. 29 with the Lords hosting a table in the Gordon Willey Building where students are encouraged to fill in their own Bell Let's Talk bubbles and share on social media in support of the nation-wide campaign. Action for the Thursday night match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with the game also available on OCAA LIVE.
