Home stand ends with sweep for No. 4 Women's Volleyball

ETOBICOKE — No. 4 Humber women's volleyball concluded its three-match homestand with a win, defeating the Redeemer Royals (1-2, 7th West) Wednesday evening at the North Campus Gym, 3-0. The final set scores were 25-16, 25-23, and 25-15.

Erika Dodd and Keyome Ellis led the way for the Hawks on the night. Dodd finished with a team-high 16 points on 14 kills, one block, and one ace, while Ellis was equally impressive putting up 12 points on nine kills, two blocks and one ace.

The Hawks showcased their depth in the first set as five different players recorded at least two kills in the frame as Humber took the set handily, 25-16.

Both teams sat tied at 12 points in the second before a 6-0 run highlighted by three aces from Alex Bartmann helped Humber take control of the set. A late Royals run made it interesting but the Hawks managed to close things out, taking a commanding 2-0 set lead.

Humber took control of the third set early jumping out to a 9-2 lead forcing a Redeemer timeout. That would prove too big a deficit for the Royals to overcome as the Hawks took this one in straight sets.

With a third of the season already completed, freshman Erika Dodd is making her case for OCAA rookie of the year. In three matches, the Uxbridge native is leading the conference swing percentage, third in kills per set, and fifth in scoring.

Humber Highlights
  • Humber improves to 31-0 all-time against the Redeemer Royals.
  • All six Humber starters recorded at least seven points in the match.
  • Alex Bartmann recorded at least 30 assists in a match for the 18th time in her Humber career.
