DC struggles continue heading into winter break

OSHAWA, Ont. – Playing in their final contest of the first semester, the Durham College men's basketball team dropped a 93-38 decision to the No. 11 nationally ranked Seneca Sting on Friday evening at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
 
The Lords failed to score more than 12 points in a quarter against the stifling defence of the Sting, in addition to being forced into 25 turnovers. Seneca impressed in the road outing, nailing 14 three pointers, while shooting over 43 percent from the field and over 90 percent from the free throw line.
 
DC will look to turn their season around as they enter the winter break with a 3-7 record, placing them in ninth in the OCAA east division. The Lords will hit the court in the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 14 when they face the Loyalist Lancers at the CRWC. Tip-off for the second half of the season is scheduled for 8 p.m. with the game once again being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
  Gabriel Andre (Ottawa, Ont.) and Josiya Lowe (Brampton, Ont.) led the Lords on the night with nine points apiece, with Andre finishing 4-for-6 and Lowe going 4-for-7 from the floor. 
• Six Sting players broke double-digits in the decisive win, led by 22 points from Dakoda Lewis who also led the team with four three-point field goals made.
  Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, Ont.)  and Calvin Ko (Los Angeles, California), each grabbed six rebounds, with Ko also adding a block on the defensive end of the floor.
• Dominating down low, Ricky Ricketts pulled down 18 rebounds in 25 minutes of action for Seneca, including eight offensive boards, to go along with 12 points for a double-double.
• Isaiah Ankra was also impressive for the Sting nearly earning a triple double with 13 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.
