OTTAWA, Ont. – With the top two teams in the OCAA east region going head-to-head on Friday night, it was the Durham College women's volleyball team finishing with a straight-set victory over the Algonquin Thunder.
The Thunder, who were the last team to win a set against Durham in conference play (Oct. 28), were unable to match the undefeated Lords in Ottawa.
Megan Romain (Ajax, Ont.) ran the offence, but also put up a season-high 12 digs in a defensive role.
Efficiency has been
Shannon Dean's (Whitby, Ont.) nature all season and Friday was no different as she had 10 kills with a 0.625 hitting percentage. She also earned an ace and two blocks for the match-high 13 points.
Madeleine Elit (Trenton, Ont.) had an OCAA career-high four blocks, while adding seven kills.
The Lords leader in kills,
Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) picked up eight in the victory, alongside three aces.
Durham won the opening set 25-17, before a lopsided 25-11 second set. The Lords closed out the match edging the Thunder 26-24.
On Saturday, their annual trip to Ottawa continues as they take on the La Cité Coyotes at 1 p.m.
