Box Score BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Having already clinched a home playoff game, the Durham College women's soccer team did not slow down at all, dropping the Loyalist Lancers 5-0 in their regular season finale on the road.
A special mark in DC women's soccer program history was made on the night as fifth-year captain MacKenzie Barry (Ajax, Ont.) competed in her 42nd OCAA regular season match, setting a new program record for games played.
On the field it was first-year striker
Kaelin Wright (Ajax, Ont.) who left her mark in the finale, not only scoring her first career OCAA goal, but scoring a hat-trick in the dominant win.
It was fellow first-year sensation
Makayla Rudder (Scarborough, Ont.) who opened the scoring for the Lords just three minutes into the contest. The goal marked Rudder's ninth of the season, securing the team-high for the season and ranking her in the top 10 in the OCAA scoring race.
DC then added two more goals before the half as
Natassha Hassenstein (Oshawa, Ont.) recorded her third of the season in the 33rd minute, while Wright notched her first of the match in the 35th.
In the second half, Wright added two more goals in the 67th and 90th minutes.
Durham goalkeepers
Kerrington Steed (Courtice, Ont.) and
Jenna King (Ajax, Ont.) combined for the clean sheet.
"It is always good to see all your strikers active in the scoring and even better was the ability to get all 18 onto the field," noted Lords head coach
Alex Bianchi after the road win. "The real season starts on Saturday with the playoffs and that's where our focus & energy will be directed now."
