Men’s Basketball Suffer First Loss

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team lost their first game of the season Saturday afternoon to #4 nationally ranked Humber College (Etobicoke) by a score of 107-84 dropping their record to 3-1.

A slow start for both teams saw the visitors from Humber take a 17-13 lead into the second quarter.  Unfortunately, St. Clair allowed Humber to outscore them 32-21 before halftime and trailed 49-34 by intermission.  The Saints never really threatened the remainder of the game and fell behind by as much as 26 points in the fourth quarter. 

St. Clair could only make four triples in the game and were outrebounded 46-28 in the contest.  Humber outpaced the Saints 37-13 in points off the bench while shooting 57% from the field. 

The Saints were led in scoring by 5th year guard David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) who netted 22 points on 10 of 13 shooting and added 4 rebounds.  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) was close behind with 21 points to go with 4 rebounds and a pair of steals for St. Clair.  Darnelle Peddie (Pickering, ON) was a rebound short of a double-double scoring all 13 of his points in the second half along with 9 boards.

Humber's Kevin Otoo (Toronto, ON) scored a game high 25 points to go with 7 rebounds and 5 assists to propel his team to the win. 

St. Clair finishes the weekend homestand on Sunday when they host Sheridan College (Brampton) with a 3:00pm tip time.
