HUSKIES BATTLE TO A DRAW VS COLTS ON THE ROAD

Huskies #18 looks upfield with soccer ball

The George Brown Women's Soccer team (1-1-1) played toe-to-toe with the Centennial Colts (1-1-2) on Wednesday (Sept. 14th), coming out with a 0-0 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies hit the road to Centennial College on Wednesday looking for their second win of the season after a 4-0 loss to the Durham Lords on the weekend. The visitors came out strong and ready to rebound, maintaining solid ball possession and patience in building their attack.

George Brown welcomed back two veteran pieces to the lineup in Julia Kassner (5th Year) and 2019-20 standout rookie Makayla Cabral (3yr Year), who scored five goals in her opening season with the Huskies. The two recorded four of the Huskies 12 shots on the game.

The remainder of the offensive pressure came from seasoned veterans Cynthia Pellegrino (5th Year) who recorded two shots on goal, and 5th Year transfer Nicole Carvalho who registered 5 of 6 shots on goal. Two of which just narrowly missed giving the Huskies their second win of the season. Colts goalkeeper Jordyn Chrons-Slaght saved all seven attempts she faced on the evening.

Standing behind that offence and ensuring the Huskies walked away with the draw was rookie goalkeeper Victoria Broomer. Broomer was stellar again, recording 14 saves over the 90 minutes of play. The Colts logged a total of 21 shots on the evening, 10 off the combined feets of Mylie Decoff (5) and Soledad Vazquez-Cicutto (5).

UP NEXT: After a weekend off, George Brown will travel on its longest road swing of the season when they head North to battle Sault College (0-3-1) on Saturday September 24th (Sault St. Marie) followed by Cambrian College (2-1-1) on Sunday September 25th (Sudbury). Sault is looking for their first win of the season, while Cambrian comes off a 9-1 blowout victory over Fleming College.
