OTTAWA, Ont. – After picking up their first win of the season the day prior, the Durham College men's basketball team were unable to duplicate the results as they fell 79-72 to the La Cite Coyotes in Ottawa on Saturday.
DC found themselves in good position on several occasions leading 20-17 after the first quarter and 53-52 at the end of three. However, the Coyotes shot over 50 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lords 27-19 to earn the home victory.
Durham will now return to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre where they will challenge the St. Lawrence Vikings on Friday, Nov. 1. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. with the game being streamed on
OCAA LIVE.
• First-year forward
Gabriel Andre (Ottawa, Ont.) was exceptional for the Lords in the loss scoring a team-high 25 points on an efficient 10-for-13 from the field.
• Fellow starters
Tyrique Walters (Brampton, Ont.) and
Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, Ont.) also reached double-digit scoring in the loss, notching 16 and 15 respectively.
• Harouna Diop registered a game-high 28 points in 38 minutes for La Cite.
• Andre nearly made it a double-double performance pulling down nine rebound, while also adding three steals and a block defensively.
• One of the few veterans on the Lords roster, Mabanza filled up the stats sheet adding eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block to his stat line.
• Madouk Akol and Salim Coulibaly led the Coyotes on the boards grabbing seven rebounds each.
