Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball had their three-game win streak end in a five set loss to the St. Clair Saints, 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 26-24, 20-25, 13-15).

The Mountaineers successfully won two of the first three sets to put the Saints on the brink of another loss, but a tough fourth set followed by a back and forth fifth set saw St. Clair pull through with the win.

Mohawk assistant coach James Ellison explained what went wrong in the final two sets.

"We didn't execute properly," Ellison said. "We didn't generate enough offense, so we need to go back, check what we can improve and go back to practice on Monday."

Anthony Beijes (Hamilton, ON) continues a strong offensive season with a team-leading 19 kills. Ethan May (Dunville, ON) was solid at the net with seven kills and seven blocks to go with four aces.

Ellison credited the play of Beijes and the bench.

"Anthony played very well," Ellison said. "The bench came in and did exactly what they needed to do in the fourth set to generate some good offense. I think the team dug down and fought in a tough situation."

The Mountaineers are back in action on Nov. 16 when they host the Niagara Knights at 8 p.m.
