(London, Ontario) – In their final home game of the regular season, the Fanshawe Men's Basketball team (9-10) fell 97-89 to the Mohawk Mountaineers (13-6) on Thursday evening.

The teams traded points in the opening quarter, with Carter Hawthornthwaite (London, ON) knocking down a pair of triples for the Falcons. Adrian Stevens (Toronto, ON) then hit a 3-pointer of his own, however the red and white found themselves down 24-20 after the first frame. Mohawk came out strong in the second quarter, outscoring the Falcons 32-11 to take a 56-31 lead going into the locker room at half time.

In the third quarter, a jumper from Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) got the Birds rolling. A brilliant pass from D'Andre Austin (Toronto, ON) resulted in a reverse layup from Mason Middaugh (London, ON). Fanshawe continued the offense with a shot from behind the arc by Jordan Huntley (Innisfil, ON). Middaugh closed the quarter with a rejection. At the end of the third frame the score was 77-60.

Fanshawe came out strong in the fourth quarter, as back-to-back triples from Stevens gave the Falcons momentum. A put back from senior Alfred Johnson (London, ON) continued the 17-7 run. An Austin and-one, followed by a huge block by Johnson got the home crowd on their feet. Unfortunately, Mohawk would hit some key shots down the stretch. Despite outscoring the Mountaineers 29-20 in the final quarter, the Falcons could not complete the comeback and fell 97-89.

So far this season, there have been new Fanshawe Men's Basketball records set by Maletic for most 3-pointers made in a season with 64, Johnson for most rebounds in a season with 183 and Ujullu for most blocks in a season with 30. Johnson is also the Fanshawe Men's Basketball all-time rebounding leader with 406 career boards.

Fanshawe will travel to Canadore (0-19) on Saturday, February 22 for their final game of the regular season.
