LANCERS AND SURGE END IN A DRAW

LANCERS AND SURGE END IN A DRAW

The Lancers recorded their first tie of the season with a 1-1 final against the St. Lawrence Surge Wednesday at home.

After a tough couple of games on the road, the Lancers bounced back with a strong performance that showed improved offense, better ball movement and increased physicality. The home team created a great scoring chance within the first minutes of the game but weren't quite able to find the back of the net. Recording a season high 13 shots in the game, the Lancers maintained control well into the second half when, at the 77th minute, the Surge broke through and opened the scoring with a goal from Morgan Knetsch.

Not willing to go quietly, the second year Lancer Jenna Mae Oickle came through just before the final whistle with a beautiful goal to push to a 1-1 final.

Veteran Lancer keeper Emily Mealing continued to impress with 9 saves, bringing her season tally to 108 while fellow returning player, Kennedy Bardawill, kept the Surge on their toes with numerous scoring chances.

The Lancers are back in action on Sunday at 1 PM in their final game of the season when they host the Sault Cougars.
