Panthers Sweep La Cité

(North Bay, ON) – The Canadore Panthers men's volleyball team opened their 2022-23 season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-13) set win over La Cite Coyotes. After winning the first 2 sets the Panthers had the Coyotes on their heels, and the Panthers didn't let up has they pushed to finish the match in 3 sets.

Canadore College Drive Gym was packed as the Panthers begin their 2022-23 season in front of a thrilled home crowed. The OCAA 2021-22 East Division Champions were driven for a battle against the La Cite Coyotes.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle between both sides, as each team tried to gain momentum at the start. It was Canadore who gain momentum and never looked back, as the Panthers took the first set 25-17.

The second set was all Canadore as they jumped out to a commanding lead 10-4 over the Coyotes. Fans witness an amazing serving run by Ethan Lucas (Sydenham, ON) with 6 straight serving aces. Panthers went on to closed out the second set with a 25-11 win.

With the win in reach the Panthers started the third set with a lot of momentum and never looked back as they went on to win the third and final set 25-13.

We saw Ethan Lucas (Sydenham, ON) break a Canadore Individual Scoring Record for Most Aces in a match with a total of 9 aces. Ethan Lucas (Sydenham, ON) was a force finishing the game with a total of 7 kills, 9 aces, and 16 points.

Next for the Panthers will be at home to take on Loyalist Lancers on Oct. 30. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. and will be streamed live on OCAA LIVE.
