The George Brown Huskies (1-2) hit the road last weekend, November 18 and 19, to take on the Loyalist Lancers and St. Lawrence Surge in a weekend back-to-back. The Huskies ended up dropping both contests by scores of 70-50 and 73-56, respectively. 

HOW IT HAPPENED - LOY: The first quarter started with the Huskies showing great composure, not rushing ball movement. The Huskies controlled the glass, out-rebounding the home team 15-8, and took control of the quarter getting out to a 20-14 lead.

In the second, Loyalist came back with urgency and quickly took the lead. With the Huskies only shooting 13% from the floor in the frame, the Lancers capitalized. Behind seven points and eight rebounds from Kate Maxwell, Loyalist would take a lead of 37-24 going into halftime. 

While the second half was more evenly matched on the scoreboard, George Brown continued to struggle offensively and fell by a final score of 70-50. The Huskies forced 23 turnovers, but they were not able to convert on the other end of the court, shooting 25% from the floor for the game and turning the ball over themselves 30 times.

Leading the way in scoring for the Huskies was Jordyn Dawkins (1st year) had 18 points including two 3-pointers, 12 rebounds and one assist.  

HOW IT HAPPENED - SLC: On the following day in Kingston, ON the Huskies look to rebound and take one of two on their road trip. But the St. Lawrence Surge had other plans, getting out to an early lead and never looking back.

In the first quarter George Brown was held to only nine points on 3-16 shooting (18%) to open the game, while St. Lawrence connected on 27% of theirs to take a 16-9 lead.

In the second, Huskies rookie Minori Fukushi was perfect from the floor going 4-4 for 10 points, but St. Lawrence built on their lead going into halftime, up 36-24. The Surge's Melissa Gilligan was nearly as perfect, going 5-6 herself for 11 points in the quarter.

Coming out of halftime, while the Huskies shoot an solid 46% from the floor they were out-rebounded 14-5. And those second chance points were the difference maker, putting the game out of reach for the visiting team. The dropped the contest by a final score of 73-56.
