GRIZZLIES MEN’S RUGBY FALL TO HAWKS IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE
Daniel Martyn and the Grizzlies fell on the road to the Humber Hawks 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's rugby team continued their season this past weekend when they travelled to take on the Humber Hawks on Saturday in Etobicoke.
It was a defensive battle from start to finish with both teams standing strong on multiple occasions.
The Grizzlies were stopped three times near the opposing try line in the second half alone, leaving Humber's first half try by Prince Ndukwe as the games only score, as the Hawks won the match 5-0.
The loss drops Georgian's regular season record to 1-1-1 on the season, but the Grizzlies continue to hold on to first place in the OCAA men's rugby standings.
This was the Grizzlies first regular season loss since Oct. 20, 2018 snapping an eight-game undefeated streak. Georgian has only two regular season losses in the past five seasons, as they hold a 24-2-1 record during that stretch.
The Grizzlies will play their final regular season match when they host the Durham Lords (1-1) on Saturday, Oct. 23 at J.C. Massie Field.
