The Mountaineers were unable to pick up a win over the weekend in which they played in four games.

Mohawk lost two very close, hard fought games in Kitchener on Saturday versus the Conestoga Condors.

In the first game, Mountaineers Emma Harker led off with a double and was moved to third on a single by Kacie Harrison before scoring on a sacrifice fly to provide Mohawk with a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning, Olivia Thompson singled and later scored on a RBI triple by Katie Ross to make it 2-0.

The Condors answered in the bottom of the third, with a run on a sacrifice and then again on a RBI single. After a fourth inning RBI double by Sierra Sheehy, Conestoga would take a 4-2 lead, which ultimately was the final score.

Extra innings would be needed in the second game between the Mountaineers and Condors, but it was Conestoga who once again came out on top to win 7-6.

In a 4-4 game in the eighth inning, Mohawk's Kerri Smith got her third hit of the game to drive in a run and Randi Dale added to the lead as the Mountaineers took a 6-4 advantage.

In the bottom half, after a RBI single cut the Mohawk lead to one, Cassie Leader hit a walk-off double to score two and give the Condors a 7-6 victory.

On Sunday, the Mountaineers travelled to play the St. Clair Saints in a doubleheader.

The two teams played through a little bit of rain, but the Saints came out on top in both games, winning 11-0 and 12-0, respectively.

The Mountaineers (2-10) will next host the Fanshawe Falcons (5-5) at Mohawk Sports Park on Oct. 5 with game one beginning at 6 p.m. and the second to start at 8 p.m. This will be Mohawk's inaugural Orange Shirt Game and fans coming to watch are asked to wear an orange shirt.
