No. 12-ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball remain the only undefeated OCAA school after handing No. 5-ranked St. Clair Saints their first loss, 127-125 in double overtime.

Both teams started hot out of the gate, but it was the Saints that took an early advantage, leading by nine at halftime.

The Mountaineers had their best offensive quarter in the third, scoring 33-points but could only cut into the Saints lead by two.

Mohawk finally tied the game at the 7:55 mark of the fourth from a Jerry Jr. Mercury (Scarborough, ON) made three.

The two teams would go back and forth from there, but with 32-seconds left and trailing by one, Mercury had an opportunity to give Mohawk the lead with two free throws but was unable to do so, making only one-of-two to send the game to overtime.

In the first overtime period the Saints took charge with a six-point advantage, but the Mountaineers eventually cut the lead down to one. Two free throws would give St. Clair a three-point lead, but Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) hit a three to tie it 116-116 with 53 seconds left to force a second overtime.

The Saints would get another six-point lead in the second overtime, but Mohawk again found a way back. With 51 seconds left Raivone Young (Halifax, NS) hit a layup to give the Mountaineers a 126-125 lead and eventually the win after Rommel Calura (Hamilton, ON) added a point on a made free throw.

Graham led Mohawk with a team-high 29-points to go with seven assists. Calura made eight threes en route to 28-points, while his younger brother Cale Calura (Hamilton, ON) added 24-points.

Mercury had his second double-double of the weekend with 19-points and 12 rebounds.

The Mountaineers will look to continue their winning ways on Nov. 19 when they host the Conestoga Condors at 3 p.m.
