Box Score NORTH BAY, Ont. - The No. 5 nationally ranked Durham Lords men's volleyball team defeated the Canadore Panthers in straight sets on Sunday afternoon in North Bay. Set scores were 25-13, 25-19, 25-15.
DC have now won 17 consecutive sets, dropping their last one back on Nov. 9. Improving to 12-0 on the season, the Lords jumped two games ahead of the OCAA east second place Algonquin Thunder who they will face next weekend in a key second half of the season matchup.
The Lords return to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Saturday, Jan. 25 where they will face the La Cite Coyotes to open a back-to-back weekend. First serve for the Saturday evening match is set for 6 p.m. DC then follows that up with their contest versus the Thunder on Sunday, Jan. 26. • Powerful outside hitter
Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.) led the Lords with 12 points in the three set win, recording 10 kills and two service aces.
• Standout second-year middle
James Hirt (Scarborough, Ont.) was strong at the net and the service line, finishing the evening with 11 points from five kills, three aces, and three blocks.
• A bright spot for the Panthers, Jackson Brear registered a team-high nine points with eight kills and one block.
• Lords veteran setter
Liam Gray (Barrie, Ont.) tallied 24 assists in guiding the offence, adding three kills, one block, and two digs to his stat line.
• Proving to be a valuable defender as well, Dube scored a team-high 10 digs defensively for the green and gold.
• Cameron Daniels guided the Canadore offence with 17 assists, while Yusuf Suleman recorded a game-high 11 digs.
