DC sweeps George Brown in home finale

OSHAWA, ON - Hosting the George Brown Huskies for their home finale and senior's night, the Durham Lords baseball team won both games of the doubleheader at Kinsmen Stadium on Thursday night, 8-0 and 6-3.

The Lords came out hot in both games, outscoring the Huskies 14-1 in the first four innings of both games (8-0 in Game 1 and 6-1 in Game 2). From there Durham relied on great defense and pitching to close out both wins. Shutting out the Huskies in Game 1 and allowing only three runs in Game 2, the Huskies were finished off on the night by a clutch strikeout from first-year pitcher Ryan Mattes (Whitby, ON).

With the two wins, Durham improves to 6-5 on the season. Hoping to keep the ball rolling and pick up two more wins, the Lords will travel to play the Centennial Colts next Wednesday, Oct. 13. First pitch in the road doubleheader is set for 6 p.m.

  Game 1
• Starting pitcher Thomas Handy (Newington, ON) went four strong innings allowing zero runs, only allowing one hit, and striking out three.
