DC perfect entering winter break

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ranked No. 6 in the country, the Durham College women's volleyball team earned a straight sets victory over the visiting Canadore Panthers on Friday afternoon at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores were 25-20, 25-21, 25-17.

DC have now won 25 consecutive sets in a row, while holding a perfect 28-0 record versus OCAA east opponents in regular season action dating back to February 2018. Durham were exceptional at the net, scoring 12 blocks to just one for the Panthers. Four different Lords recorded a block in the win, led by a near career night from third-year middle Cassidy Nicholson-Clarke (Ajax, Ont.).

The Lords will look to coninue their dominance over the east division in the new year, beginning with a road contest versus the Seneca Sting on Friday, Jan. 10. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. with all the action being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
  • Clarke was amazing at the net for the Lords registering seven total blocks, just one shy of a career-high set last November. She added seven kills and one ace for a game-high 15 points.  
• Veteran outside hitters Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) and Jessica Joensen (Newcastle, Ont..) each added 11 points, with Terwillagar scoring 10 kills and one ace, while Joensen recorded nine kills, one service ace, and one block.
• Kristine Ledger notched a team-high 10 points from 10 kills for the Panthers. 
  • Second-year setter Georgi Williams (Whitby, Ont.) guided the Lords offence with 23 assists, adding four kills and one ace, while also registering five digs.
• Joensen led DC defensively with nine digs in the win, while libero Devyn Fraser (Uxbridge, Ont.) also recorded seven digs defensviely.
• Ashlyn Kadlecik picked up 24 assists for Canadore, while three players notched four digs apiece.
