Another straight set win for No. 5 Lords

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College men's volleyball team earned a straight set win over the visiting George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores for the match were 25-18, 25-15, 25-18.

The victory marks the ninth straight set win for DC this season as they improved their record to 11-0, ranking first in the OCAA east division. The No. 5 team in the country, Durham's offence has been impressive this year currently ranking second in the province in points per set and kills per set. Most impressive in the Wednesday evening win was the team blocks which saw the Lords outblock the Huskies 15-3.

DC will now travel to North Bay on Sunday, Jan. 19 to face the Canadore Panthers. First serve for the contest is set for 3 p.m. with the game available for webcast via OCAA LIVE.
  • Two Lords cracked double-digits in the win as Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.) and James Hirt (Scarborough, Ont.) recorded 13 and 10 points respectively. Dube finished with 10 kills, two service aces, and a block, while Hirt notched four kills, and an impressive six blocks.
• A pair of first-year standouts, Spencer Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.) and Jason Cazes (Richmond Hill, Ont.) each recorded nine points. Krabi registered seven kills and two aces, while Cazes scored eight kills and one ace.
• The only Huskie to break double-digits, Vivk Mathimakki registered a game-high 14 points from 10 kills, two aces, and two blocks.
  • Guiding the Lords offence Liam Gray (Barrie, Ont.) tallied 20 assists in the win, adding six service aces, one kill, and one block as well.
• Dube and Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) recorded six digs apiece to lead DC defensively.
• GBC setter Grayson Engelman registered 16 assist, while Sam Delgado notched a game-high 10 digs.
