SARNIA, ON - Making the trip to Sarnia on Friday night, the Durham College men's baseball team made quick work of the Lambton Lions, winning the two-game road doubleheader 11-4 and 18-2.
Finding their niche as a very talented base running team, the Lords were exceptional on the base paths, registering 10 stolen bases in the opening contest. First-year catcher
Wendel Johnson (Whitby, ON) led the way with three stolen bases, while first-year outfielder
Landon Bentley (Courtice, ON) added two. Another five Lords all recorded a stolen base in Game 1 of the matchup with the Lions.
"Tonight was a complete team effort," noted Durham Lords baseball head coach
Darryl Reid. "Our pitchers threw strikes, our defence made plays, and our offence really put pressure on them. We eran the bases really especially well and took advantage of the opportunities presented to us. A good couple wins for our team."
The Lords continue their road swing tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 1) afternoon in Windsor where they will face off with the St. Clair Saints. First pitch for another doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
