Lords come from behind to sweep doubleheader over Seneca

NORTH YORK, Ont. – A seventh inning comeback made the difference for Durham College men's baseball on Wednesday as they walked away with a sweep over the Seneca Sting.
 
The Lords opened the night with a 6-1 victory, but narrowly defeated the Sting 7-6 in the second half of the doubleheader.
 
Durham scored in only two innings in the first game, with two runs in the first and four in the sixth en route to their victory. That said, the Lords also left 10 runners on base. Seneca left six on base.
 
Jake Storry (Port Perry, Ont.) picked up the win, going six innings for the Lords. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk, while striking out three. Brodie Harkness (Bowmanville, Ont.) closed the game out, striking out two.
 
At the plate Connor May (Oshawa, Ont.) was 2-for-4 with a double, while Dryden Norton was 1-for-3 with three RBI, a walk and a triple.
 
In the second game Seneca opened up a four-run lead in the bottom of the fourth to lead the Lords 5-1. With their backs against the wall, Durham scored two in the sixth and four in the top of the seventh to lead 7-5. The Sting tried to walk it off, but only scored one run in the bottom half as the Lords held on for the sweep.
 
Eric Beharri (Burlington, Ont.) earned the win for the Lords, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 3.1 innings in relief. May went 3.2 innings to start the game, giving up three earned runs on six hits.
 
Ryan Bothwell (Napanee, Ont.) led the Lords offence going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run. Harkness had a solid night at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double.
 
This weekend Durham makes the trip to Windsor and London to face the St. Clair Saints on Saturday and the Fanshawe Falcons on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
