WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SUFFERS TOUGH LOSS TO HUSKIES
The Grizzlies fell 3-0 to the Huskies on Wednesday night at home.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies struggled out of the gate and couldn't find their rhythm. The Huskies were able to connect on some big plays to sweep the Grizzlies 3-0 by set scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-23.
Carina Brooks (Caledon) had a good game for Georgian leading the team with 11 kills, an ace and a block while teammate Isabella Antonelli (Windsor) had nine kills, two blocks and an ace for a 12-point game.
It was a tough loss for the Grizzlies at it drops their record to 11-6 on the season. They are now just one win ahead of George Brown in the standings with each team having just one game remaining on each of their schedules.
Georgian will need to defeat the undefeated Durham Lords to guarantee themselves a home playoff date, otherwise they could be going on the road in the playoffs if the Huskies win their final match over the Seneca Sting (5-12).
The Grizzlies will host the Durham Lords in their final regular season home game this coming Saturday, Feb. 15. We will be recognizing our graduating student-athletes prior to each game in a special ceremony.
The women's game gets underway at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game which follows at approximately 3 p.m.
Tickets for every Grizzlies home game are available at the doors for $5 or if you can't make it person, the livestream can be viewed at GeorgianGrizzlies.ca/WatchLive.
