Bruins Top Knights 99-82 in Tuesday Night Match-Up

January 15th, 2020… WELLAND – The Niagara College Knights men's basketball team dropped to 4-7 on the season after being handed a 99-82 loss to the 8-3 Sheridan Bruins Tuesday night in Brampton.

A sluggish first half contributed to the Knights struggles early on, ending the half down 56-29.

The Knights seemed to wake up in the fourth quarter, outscoring Sheridan 31-13 to close in on the Bruins lead, but their first half woes ultimately cost them.

"We came out flat in the first half and were forced to play catch up the rest of the game," said head coach Phil Mosley. "The men showed great resolve to finish the fourth quarter with a spirited 32 -13 run. We hope to carry some of the positives of our finish into our next games."

Knight's rookie sensation Kennan Larmand (1st year, Welland) dropped a season high 32 points to lead his the Knights in scoring, followed by Johnnie Richardson with 19, and Lequan Hylton (5th year, Mississauga) with 13. Sterphone Augustin (3rd year, Nassau, Bahamas) pulled down 16 rebounds for the Knights.

Richardson was also named as an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Star of the week and Niagara Knight Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan 13th.

Next up for the Knights will be January 25th at home against Lambton (5-7) at 4:00 P.M.
