KITCHENER – The Humber women's volleyball team (3-2, 4th West) started up its weekend with a straight-sweep over the Conestoga Condors (2-6, 8th West) on Nov 23. The final scores were 25-18, 25-16, and 25-16.
The Hawks came out strong in their opening sets against the Condors, as kills by Julia Watson and Cassidy Andrews solidified early leads for the team. This was quickly built on as the Hawks earned themselves a comfortable four-point margin above their opponents which continued to grow. Humber maintained control of both sides on the court, with middles Alex Krstonisic and Shiann Williams creating a disciplined defence and staggering Conestoga's attack. The Hawks rallied to victories in both the first and second sets, with end scores of 25-18 and 25-16.
Alex Bartmann got the Hawks flying in the third set, with a six-point service run and ace. Humber was able to display their diverse lineup, as they quickly established a seven-point lead and pushed Conestoga into an early timeout. Middle Shiann Willams utilized her height over the Condors, dominating the net both offensive and defensively, taking the Hawks to a nine-point lead. Humber earned their victory without dropping the lead once, with the final set finishing at 25-16.
Middle Shiann Williams was the lead scorer throughout the match, earning 12 points with nine kills and three blocks. Julia Watson and Cassidy Andrews followed directly behind with nine points apiece.
Humber Highlights
- Third-year setter Alex Bartmann broke the program record for all-time career assists after this win, earning 33 assists within the three sets. Previously, the record was held at 772 by alumna Britany Vanderlaan. Currently, she has earned 780 assists and ranks first in the OCAA for an average of 9.2 assists per set.
- Adding another seven blocks to their stat sheet, the Humber Hawks continue to reign the OCAA with an average of 2.68 blocks per set.
- Humber improves to 18-0 all-time record against Conestoga, winning every set against the Condors dating back to 2015.

The Hawks suit up again on Nov 24, to play the St. Clair Saints in Windsor. Game time is set for 1 p.m
