LANCERS FALL TO HUSKIES

The Lancers fell in a hard fought 73-53 decision against the George Brown Huskies Friday night in Belleville.

Coming off a very physical 59-46 loss to the Lords earlier in the week, the Lancers started the game strong and put up a good fight against the 2nd place Huskies.

The now 5-10 Lancers were quick on defense and worked their way out of a 14-9 defect after the first quarter. Out scoring the Huskies 17-14 in the second, the Lancers took their first lead of the game at 26-21 with only minutes left in the half. The Huskies answered back and moved 2 points ahead to start the second half.

The Lancers moved the ball well and created good scoring opportunities but were unable to outlast the Huskies. With 27 of their points contribued by their reserves, the Huskies widened the gap and ran away with the game in the fourth quarter to push to a 75-53 decision. The Lancers were rock solid from the foul line have made 20 of 23 but struggled to capitalize on shots from the field, going only 16-58.

Second year Lancer Brittany Mason was the game high scorer with 19 points while rookie duo Piper Kehoe and Kate Raso both added 11. Mason also snagged 10 rebounds for her 6th double double performance of the season.

The Lancers finish up the remainder of their season on the road and are currently in the hunt for playoffs.

Next up, the team travels to Ottawa to take on the Algonquin Thunder Saturday February 9th.
