KINGSTON, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team will be in second place in the OCAA east division to start 2016 as the team defeated the St. Lawrence Vikings 62-54 on Wednesday.
Durham's victory puts the team at 5-2 at the break, behind the 6-1 Algonquin Thunder, who the Lords beat in Oshawa on Nov. 20.
In Kingston it was

Maddie Dender (Ajax, Ont.) added 11 points, which included her going a perfect three-for-three from the line in the Lords win.
The Vikings looked to Abby Heron and Sammy Gourdier to lead their offence, scoring 14 and 11 points respectively.
Durham led 17-11 through the first quarter, but were only ahead 34-32 at halftime.
The third quarter was the lowest scoring quarter of the game, but the Lords found a way to increase their lead by three heading into the final 10 minutes.
A late push wasn't enough for the Vikings as Durham held on for their eight-point victory.
The Lords will now travel to New York for a pair of exhibition games next weekend against the Genesee Cougars and the Niagara County Community College Thunder Wolves. Their first conference game of the second half of the season will be Jan. 15 on the road against the Seneca Sting.
