OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team defeated the Algonquin Thunder 3-1 at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre (CRWC) on Saturday evening to even the season series.
 
Megan Romain (Ajax, Ont.) opened the match with an ace and the Lords saw good fortunes continue their way as they earned a 25-23 victory in the first set.
 
Algonquin led a close score line for the majority of the second set before scoring several unanswered points in the end to come out on top 25-18.
 
The Thunder made things difficult in the third set as the Lords led by as much as 24-20 late in the frame, while Algonquin continued to chip away at the deficit and force extra serves. That was until Sarah Rayment (Whitby, Ont.) found open floor to give the Lords a 28-26 win.
 
Durham secured their ninth win of the season with a 27-25 fourth set victory to win the match 3-1 with two of four sets going to extra serves.
 
Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) and Rayment led the way offensively for the Lords with 12 kills each. Setter Romain finished the match with 36 assists and 10 digs.
 
Marie-Chantal Ozorak stood out for the Thunder with 14 kills and 15 digs.
 
The Durham Lords are back in action on Sunday afternoon as they play host to the La Cité Coyotes at 1 p.m.
