Durham slide continues at Humber

TORONTO, ON - The Durham College women's softball team have now dropped four in a row following 6-1 and 3-2 losses on the road versus the Humber Hawks on Wednesday night.

The Hawks swept the season series versus the Lords 3-0. Despite Durham outhitting Humber in the second game of the doubleheader 7-4, DC were unable to cash in with six players left on base in the close one run Game 2. Durham pitching has been on point even in the losses, allowing just two earned runs between the two games this evening. However, errors continue to be an issue for the young Lords squad, accumulating nine errors in the pair of Wednesday night contests.

The Lords will look to make a quick turn around as they next head to Kitchener this Saturday, Oct. 9 to face the Conestoga Condors. Durham decisively won their previous match earlier this season 12-2. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
  Game 1
• First-year outfielder Abi Suffel (Guelph, ON) led the Lords at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double and one run.
• Hawks starting pitcher Meagan Muir was not only successful in the circle in the Game 1 win, but also in the batter's box finishing 2-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases, one RBI, and one run.
Game 2
• Lords rookie Ryleigh Easton (Bowmanville, ON) played a big role in DC's two run second inning, hitting a double for an RBI before crossing the plate herself on a wild pitch later in the inning.
• Continuing her strong rookie campaign, Kaysa Melin (Surrey, BC) was the only Lord to pick up multiple hits in the tight Game 2 finishing 2-for-4.
• Humber outfielder Hannah Koziolek was the lone Hawk to register more than one hit, going 2-for-2, while adding a stolen base.
  Game 1
• Despite being handed the loss, second-year pitcher Sydney Redick (Alvinston, ON) was impressive pitching six innings with six strikeouts, while allowing just two earned runs on nine hits and four walks.
• Muir picked up the win for Humber, pitching a complete seven innings, conceding four hits and three walks while striking out two.
Game 2
• First-year Durham pitcher Morgan Salter (Battersea, ON) added another six strikeouts to her season total, now ranking fourth in the OCAA with 39. She finished Game 2 with six innings pitched, four hits allowed, and three unearned runs against.
• Mikaela Moore was awarded the win for Humber, going a complete seven innings, while giving up seven hits, one walk, and two earned runs.
    Overall Record: 6-7 (W-L)
Conference Record: 6-6

Next match: Saturday, Oct. 9 @ Conestoga Condors (1/3 p.m. - Kitchener, ON)
