WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL BATTLE HARD VERSUS DURHAM
The Grizzlies fell to Durham on Saturday but will advance to the playoffs after finishing in 5th place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team played their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon when they hosted the Durham Lords at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies came out with a much-improved effort over their previous contest but had a tough opponent in the Lords.
The Lords entered the game with a perfect record and had only dropped three sets the entire season.
Georgian battled hard, but fell in four sets 3-1 from scores of 25-22, 25-11, 22-25 and 25-14.
Amber Maw (Huntsville) along with teammate Sophia Clement (Scarborough) had solid games for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies will finish the regular season with an 11-7 record and will be in fifth place in the OCAA east division standings.
Prior to the game, the Grizzlies recognized the achievements of our graduating student-athletes including Amber Maw, Brianne Camirand (London) and Jenna Gross (Barrie) who will be moving on following this season.
The Grizzlies will be going on the road for a cross-over playoff game which will take next weekend against a to be determined opponent.
The winners of the playoff games will advance to their respective OCAA Championship.
