OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's volleyball team continue to slide as the Lords dropped three straight sets to the No. 12 ranked Georgian Grizzlies 3-0.
Set scores in the match were 25-12, 25-19 and 25-18.
The Grizzlies came out swinging and kept the Lords on their heels all night. Georgian had 32 kills on 97 attempts (.299) to Durham's 20 kills on 63 attempts (.159). The Lords did not help themselves against the second ranked team in the east as they committed a combined 29 errors over the course of the game.
Erik Janssen (Hampton, Ont.) was the top scorer leading all players in kills (8) and attempts (28).
Lucas Pichl (Cobourg, Ont.) continued his dominance at the net with three kills and three blocks to add to his total as the team's leading blocker.
Other notable performances came from
Tyler Krabi (Stouffville, Ont.) with four kills and three blocks and
Wesley Armstrong (Ajax, Ont.) who saw action in all three sets gaining one kill on five attempts and a dig.
Durham will now shift focus as they head to Scarborough to face off against conference rival Centennial College on Wednesday night.
The Lords (5-5) are a half-game ahead of the Colts (5-6) with both teams coming into the match losing three straight games.
Durham beat Centennial 3-2 in their meeting in November.
