OSHAWA, Ont. - Coming off the high of a big Friday night win, the Durham Lords men's basketball team were unable to carry momentum into their home finale as they fell 84-74 to the visiting La Cite Coyotes on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the start of the final home match the Lords honoured three graduating athletes in a special pre-game ceremony. Those recognized included
Roy Anku (Edmonton, Alta.),
Gabriel Andre (Ottawa, Ont.), and
Esmail Danso (Toronto, Ont.).
In an exciting and tightly contested matchup, the one key difference proved to be turnovers. DC struggled at times with the Coyotes zone defence, finishing the game with 30 total turnovers to just 19 committed by the Coyotes. Across the board the remainder of the match looked equal with both squads nearly identical in shooting percentage, rebounds, three-point field goals, blocks, and personal fouls.
DC will end the season with two road contests, first traveling to Peterborough on Wednesday, Feb. 19 to face the Fleming Knights, before heading to Mississauga on Sunday, Feb. 23 to challenge the UTM Eagles. Both games will be available on
OCAA LIVE.
