KING CITY, Ont. - The Durham College women's basketball team claimed their eighth straight win, defeating the Seneca Sting 76-37 on Tuesday night in King City.
The Lords have been on a tear, showcasing one of the best defensive units in the province during their current eight game stretch. DC have held opponents under 50 points over the past three outings, while scoring over 70 themselves in the past five. On the night, the Lords held the Sting to just 20 percent shooting from the field and single-digit scoring in three quarters, while out-rebounding Seneca 62-35.
"We have been playing great team basketball and that is why we have been able to find success," said head coach
Heather LaFontaine. "Everyone has been contributing on the defensive end and that has then created opportunities to share the ball at the offensive end, which is the way we want to play."
Durham was buoyed by the support of DC fans who made the trip to King City via the DCSI Fan Bus. Those fans will have an opportunity to cheer their Lords on at home this Friday, Feb. 7 as they welcome the Centennial Colts to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. The night will also see the Durham Lords honour their three fall championship teams in a special post-game ceremony, recognizing national championship baseball and men's soccer teams, and provincial champion men's rugby. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the special ceremony slated for 7:30 p.m. The game will also be streamed on
OCAA LIVE.
