Softball Splits With St. Clair at Home

ETOBICOKE – Humber softball (10-2, 1st OCAA) split its doubleheader with St. Clair (6-6, 4th OCAA) Saturday evening at Connorvale Park. Presly Buchanan dominated game one, leading Humber to the win, 10-0. The Saints responded in game two with the former pitcher of the year Olivia Elliott, taking the split with the 5-2 victory.

Game One: Humber 10, St. Clair 0
Humber's offence exploded in game one, collecting 10 hits – five of which went for extra bases.

Presly Buchanan opened the scoring for Humber in the home half of the first inning, crushing her first career OCAA home run to right centre.

The flood gates opened for the Hawks in the fourth inning, driving in five runs to push the score to 10-0.

Buchanan, Breanna Oliver, and Kate Kostuch fueled Humber's offence, combining for eight hits and eight RBI.

Presly Buchanan picked up her fourth win of the season, scattering two hits while striking out five.

Game Two: Humber 2, St. Clair 5
St. Clair opened the scoring in game two, scoring two runs in the second inning.

St. Clair ace Olivia Elliott cooled down the Humber offence, holding the Hawks to four hits through the first five innings. After Meaghan Murphy led off the inning with a single, Sarah Franchetto launched a no-doubt home run to left field to tie the game at two.

The Saints responded in the seventh inning, capitalizing on a couple of Humber miscues, scoring three runs to secure the doubleheader split, 5-2.

  • Breanna Oliver picked up a career-high three RBI in game one.
  • Humber's 10-2 start to begin the season is the program's best start since beginning 2013, 14-2.
  • Taylor Reid, promoted to the active roster on Sept. 17, picked up her first career OCAA hit in game one.
  • The Hawks improve to 7-9 all-time against the Saints at home in the regular season.

Humber softball will conclude its four-game homestand Tuesday evening against Mohawk (2-6, 6th OCAA). Game one is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
