OTTAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's volleyball team continued to build towards locking up a spot in the OCAA championship with a sweep of the Algonquin Thunder on Friday night.
With the win the Lords are now two victories from clinching their berth to the championship, which will be held Feb. 23-25 at Mohawk College.
The No. 9 ranked Lords took the back-and-forth match 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-20), to sweep their third straight match.
Andrew Dube (Uxbridge, Ont.) and
Harrison Wood (Uxbridge, Ont.) led Durham with 17 and 14 point games. Wood had 12 kills and five blocks, which was nearly matched by Dube who finished with 13 kills and a block.
John Pham (Mississauga, Ont.) set the offence with 17 assists.
With eight kills,
Erik Janssen (Hampton, Ont.) now has 379 kills as a Lord and is now five kills back of Brad Van Hartingsveldt for seventh all-time.
Durham continues their weekend in Ottawa with a Saturday matinee match against the La Cité Coyotes. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
