Knights Suffer Second Loss at Home

Story by Niagara College Sport Communications Students Kyla Bain and Kennedy Costa

NOVEMBER 11, 2022 … WELLAND, ON – The Niagara College men's volleyball program played the Sheridan College men's volleyball program during ReuKnighted, after a two-year hiatus. The Sheridan Bruins secured a 3-2 win against the Niagara Knights with set scores of 25-18, 27-29, 25-22, 23-25, 08-15.

"Not gonna lie, very frustrated. We've trended towards not playing as well as we can. I think near the end of those sets we should have been able to close it out, we had them against the ropes and we just let them back into  it" said Niagara College men's volleyball coach Steve Stone when asked about how he and the team felt at the end of the second and fourth sets when the scores were tied 1-1 and 2-2.

Dallas Melnick, the 6'1", Third-Year opposite hitter had an exceptional game with thirty attack attempts. "Dallas has a heavy arm and I thought from the service line he did a great job of keeping it efficient at getting his serves in. He was aggressive all night, which is what we want." Said Steve Stone, "we want all our guys to be aggressive but make smart plays as well."

The Knights have yet to secure a win at home after starting the season at 2-0 on the road and will look ahead to their game against the Mohawk Mountaineers (3-1) on November 16th, 2022 at 8:00 PM after the women's match at 6:00 PM at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON.
