Women’s Basketball Look Good in Sheridan Win

Brampton, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team bumped their OCAA West Division record to 2-3 with an 82-60 road win over Sheridan College (Brampton) Sunday afternoon. 

Sheridan led in the early stages and the Saints needed an 8-0 run to close the first quarter ahead 19-15.  Sheridan put together their best frame in the second but still trailed St. Clair 39-36 at halftime.  The Saints put the clamps down in the third quarter limiting the home team to just five field goals and were able to cruise down the stretch with as much as a 25-point advantage in the fourth. 

St. Clair scored 20 points after forcing 20 Sheridan turnover and coupled with their best shooting performance of the season made 10 triples in the game. 

Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) led all scorers with 30 points and made 6 from beyond the 3-point arc for St. Clair.  Lauren Overeem (Brantford, ON) reached her highest total of the season with 16 points while adding 8 rebounds for the Saints.  A pair of double-double outputs came from Alyssa Lucier (Wallaceburg, ON) and Janae Smith (Warren, MI) for St. Clair's notable players.  Lucier dished out 10 assists to go with her 14 points while Smith recorded 11 rebounds and chipped in with 13 points.

Sheridan's Shykara Saunders (East Preston, NS) had 14 points in the loss. 

The Saints come home Friday to face Fanshawe College (London) with tip set for 6:00pm.
