Knights move to 2-0 with 4-1 win over Mohawk

September 22, 2021- The Niagara College Women's soccer team played to a 4-1 win over Mohawk College last night at Dave Mantel Field in Ancaster. The win marks the second consecutive win for the Knights as they opened the -2021-2022 season at Redeemer with a 2-0 win over the Royals. 

The Knights have now played two of their six games on the road, and will return home Saturday september 25th at Youngs Sportsplex for a tit with Sheridan College. 

The blue and white opened the scoring in the first half with two goals from co-captain Terin Hultink (2nd year, Fenwick, Recreational Therapy). Co-captain Sydney Sica (4th year, Niagara Falls, Practical Nursing)) and first year Rylan Greatrix (Niagara Falls, practical Nursing) each found the back of the net in the second half to go up 4-0. Mohawk would sneak one in at the 86th minute mark to spoil the shut-out for Sierra Naccarato (Niagara Falls, Massage Therapy).

Head coach Rob Lalama likes the direction his team is heading, and is looking forward to what will likely be a close match with Sheridan College Saturday.

"We're steadily improving as a team each game," said Lalama. "Sheridan will be a nice test for us on Saturday."

Saturday's home opener for Niagara will mark the first game between Sheridan and Niagara this season, after which the Knights will have played each team in their south division once. 

Saturday's match will kick-off at 1:00 p.m. at Youngs Sportsplex. For those planning to attend, please be prepared to provide contact tracing information and wear a mask. Fans are also encouraged to bring their own chairs to maintain a safe, social-distancing environment.
