HUSKIES SECURE SPOT IN FINAL FOUR

The George Brown Huskies men's indoor soccer team advanced to the semi-finals at the OCAA Indoor Soccer Provincial Championship after finishing second in their pool with a 1-2-0 record on Thursday (Mar. 7) at Ontario Soccer Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  The tournament kicked off with George Brown facing the St. Clair Saints. Trailing 1-0 midway through the second half, Gianfranco Gileppo redirected a shot from Jason Alvarado to level the score, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

In Game 2, the Huskies faced the Durham Lords, and this was a defensive showdown. The lone goal in the match came off the foot of Matthias Broomes. Gileppo found him open on the left side, and the striker made no mistake. He went top shelf to help give the team their first win at Provincials.

In the final game against Humber, Shervin Divyapalan scored the lone goal for George Brown, which resulted in a 1-1 tie.

UP NEXT: The Huskies will face off against the Conestoga Condors at 11:00 am. Depending on the outcomes, George Brown will compete either for the bronze medal at 1:00 pm or the gold medal at 2:30 pm.
